Winter is coming.
Earlier today I was tagging along with one of our field producer’s special projects shoot and I learned Spokane is in for one hell of a winter.
We loitered around Gonzaga University’s quad in the center of campus. Students were walking to and from class, studying in the sunshine and brand new ROTC cadets sorting through their gear purchased by tax payer dollars.
It was a strange moment when I witnessed the unit’s brand new motto during their call to attention practice.
“Winter is coming,” they shouted in unison.
My ears perked in disbelief that I heard what I just heard. I looked around and saw that not a soul had the same reaction. Apparently nobody watches or reads Game of Thrones.
For those that aren’t familiar with the fantasy series, their chosen motto is the same phrasing used by the Stark family.
Command staff said a unit can choose their own motto.
