A thief and drug user with 39 arrests has earned the ire of Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich. Mark W. Bush has been jailed again, this time accused of possessing 11 ounces of meth, and Knezovich wants federal prosecutors to pursue charges and a stiff prison sentence.

Colville boys, 10 and 11, will stand trial in murder conspiracy

A Stevens County judge has ruled that two boys, ages 10 and 11, are competent to stand trial in juvenile court for first-degree conspiracy to murder a female classmate. Prosecutor Tim Rasmussen described the details in the conspiracy as “salacious.” A handwritten plan listing seven steps leading up to the planned killing was submitted as evidence during the mental capacity hearing on Friday in Colville.

Pilot sues officer, Colville over arrest

A pilot claims a Colville police officer used excessive force while arresting him in 2011 after he crash-landed his small plane on the municipal airport runway. A lawsuit filed by the pilot, George Thomas, in federal court names the city of Colville, the Colville Police Department and Officer Rex Newport, who is already on paid administrative leave from the department while sexual misconduct allegations against him are investigated.

Hillyard bank robbed by man in straw hat

A Banner Bank branch in Hillyard was held up today by a robber reportedly wearing black glasses and a straw farmer’s style hat.

Police refer to this man’s hat as a straw farmer’s hat. I’m looking for any fashionista that can confirm this description based on the above surveillance photo.
